HOLIDAY WEDDING!

Aloha!

The Holidays are always a romantic time of the year. All the magic and glitter of gifts, cards, trees and ornaments. What a better time to have a wedding? Especially in Hawaii. One of our recent cakes was right before Christmas.

Mari and Chris contacted me awhile ago for their wedding cake. They knew they wanted to use tea leaves in the cake design so we followed their invitation design of 2 tea leaves to signify Mari and Chris. They choose our Chai Flavor with half the cake to have soy butter cream and the remaining our vanilla butter cream.

When I walked into the Ballroom I was so amazed out how beautiful it was. Set for 300 people the tables had cute stockings on each plate with their names and wedding date filled with gingerbread. Christmas trees in each corner of the room and a beautiful head table with big beautiful flowers.

Congratulations to Mari and Chris. We wish them many years of love of happiness and a happy holiday season.

COOKIE DECORATING FOR A SCHOOL DAY BIRTHDAY

ALOHA!

Sometimes when your children's birthdays fall during the week it can be hard to plan a party for them. You work, they go to school.....so what can you do as an alternative for the school day birthdays? Have us go to the school and have a cookie decorating party for the kids.
We recently set up a party for Elijah at his school for him and his friends. The theme was trains! We made a dozen train cookies so each child had one cookie to decorate. We set up toppings, icing and plates for them. They were so excited they sat down at their little table outside the classroom and wanted the cookies right away, before they even ate their pizza! it was so fun and perfect for Elijah!

We have been creating cookie decorating parties here for 3 years, it is a unique activity for kids parties. And we are the first ones to create it here in Hawaii! I used to do this as a child with my mom and I passing it on to everyone else!

So if you want to help your child celebrate their school day birthday contact us for more information!

YET ANOTHER TRAVEL WEDDING CAKE

ALOHA!

We get emails all the time from destination couples planning their wedding in Hawaii. And one popular theme for the wedding is Travel. Whether it is travel to Hawaii or travel in general or travelling together as a couple, its a popular theme.

A recent cake we made was for a couple travelling from the mainland to celebrate their love and marriage in one of the most popular destinations, Waikiki.

This cake was made unique for our couple, with passports, surfboards a jeep with a snowboard and a custom cake topper of the couple. One thing they asked us to do with the topper is to make our groom a lot taller then our bride. Totally Cute!

The wedding and reception took place in a private suite at The Outrigger Hotel. With a huge lanai set up with bright oranges and lots of beautiful flowers. And the back drop, Waikiki Beach and Diamond head. It was a beautiful day and we are so happy for our couple.

We wish you many years of love and happiness!

HELLO KITTY MEETS CANDYLAND!

Aloha and Happy Holidays.

I hope all of you are enjoying a wonderful, peaceful holiday season! December was a busy month for us. As we prepared for a busy Christmas we were able to help our clients celebrate all kinds of events.

This event was for a special little girl named Kady. I met with her parents Elyse and Neal sometime ago top plan the special cake for Kady's 1st Birthday.

Elyse and Neal had some great ideas, they knew they wanted a lot of bight colors, a very whimsical looking cake, Hello Kitty and Candyland theme! We used all these ideas and made an amazing cake for them!

Everything on the cake was handmade. And they choose 3 different flavors for the cake.

We also supplied them with a cookie decorating party. They wanted their guests to have a fun and unique activity to do. We supplied them all kinds of cookies, topping and icings. We have been doing this for 3 years now and its a hit!

We hope Kady had the best 1st Birthday! We were glad to be able to share in this very special day!

Happy Birthday Kady!

WORLD TRAVEL TO HAWAII FOR A WEDDING!

ALOHA!
Wow, it has been some time since we blogged. So many things have been happening, besides being slammed busy for the holidays. Its amazing how busy we are. I am so thankful.

We relocated over Thanksgiving, we have been getting so many calls for cookie orders, especially after making over 2000 for Honolulu Magazine to give out to Ala Moana Mall.

We have been attending lots of events, one being for Kanu Hawaii, held at 87Zero, planned by Poi Planet. What a fun time. It was nice to meet new people and see old friends. And give out samples. It was also a pleasure to talk to some people who worked for The Ritz Carlton. One actually worked with my old chef. It is a small world.
We have made a lot of cakes since our last blog and all of them are wonderful cakes with great stories.

This was the beginning of our holiday season madness! November 1, 2009 Grace and Kevin's wedding was held at The Moana Surfrider Hotel in Waikiki.

They choose Katy with Katy Castillo Weddings to plan and set up the event, and L'Amour Photography for the photos.

When I met Grace and Kevin they knew they wanted a globe cake. After talking to them and learning what their vision was, we decided to design their cake with suitcases under the globe. One to represent Grace and where she has traveled too and one to represent Kevin and where he has traveled too. The globe was to be a representation of where in the world they have been, how their paths have crossed many times and then finally where they met and fell in love and how they made Hawaii the place where they would begin the next chapter of their lives together.

Kevin's suitcase was a little larger and more "beat up" looking. We hand painted stickers from around the world that he has travelled too.

Grace's suitcase was a little smaller and pretty. We again hand painted stickers from around the world she has been.
The stickers are made from modeling chocolate. We hand painted from certain sticker designs. These are not pre printed or edible paper.

We then placed the globe on top with the trail of their travels. We then placed a custom cake topper of the couple on top looking out into the world.

We had so much fun making this cake for such a wonderful couple.

We know they have some new opportunities in front of them that may take them travelling more and we wish them all the best of luck for a wonderful future.

Have a wonderful Holiday season!
