Aloha!
I had the pleasure to meet a great couple a few weeks ago. Kellie called me to set up a tasting for her wedding cake. I met with her and her fiance Jud. It was such a great meeting. I could have talked to them all night. They are young, fun and very much in love. Both had such great inputs for the design of their cake. The theme they were going with was sunflowers and music. The color they were using were chocolate brown, yellow with touches of red. I had the chance to see the invitation which I was very smitten with. I love sunflowers. So I made the flowers to exactly what was on the invitation.

One thing they did ask for was a custom cake topper. I love when I get asked for these because ti really makes the wedding cake unique for the couple. They picked some unique things to put on the wedding cake. We had Jud in a bullet proof vest and in the back of the cake were bullet holes. We also incorporated some music notes in the piping by the flowers to tie the music into the cake. Yes some may think that is odd but for them it was fresh, fun and all for them. And I loved making it.

Kellie also surprised Jud with a Xbox Elite cake. A first for us. We also added some bling to the cake for Jud. we also lit it up with LED light in the controller and in the Xbox power button. We also placed a small bullet hole on the top of the box.

It was our pleasure to be a part of Kellie and Jud's Wedding and we wish them the best of luck for the future.
Congratulations

Aloha!

I am going to continue with a cake we made this past week for a sweet couple who loves butterflies. Its our signature cake simplified. Candace wanted lavender ribbon and white butterflies with lots of shimmer. This is a very simple and elegant cake.
They picked vanilla and chocolate cake.
I always love going to The Hyatt Waikiki, they are so gracious and helpful and super sweet and when we walked in the room was a lavender and butterfly garden. It was so beautiful.
Have a great day!

JETT'S JUNGLE 1ST BIRTHDAY

ALOHA MONDAY!
Hope you all had a rest full fun weekend. I want to continue to talk about our busy week.

This is about Jett's 1st Birthday Party. I met Jett's mom and dad a long time ago for a tasting and to come up with a design for his 1st birthday cake. When I heard it was a jungle theme I got excited. This is one of my favorite themes. We have done a few at this point so making this one different then different was going to be fun.

We airbrushed leopard print on the bottom two tiers and hand painted the zebra stripes on the top 2 tiers. We make a big 1 for the top and painted leopard print on that as well. We have parrots, monkeys, a lion, a giraffe, and a big elephant scattered throughout the cake. With whimsical vines and leaves from tier to tier.

This cake cam with 3 different flavors. Strawberry guava, bananas foster, and chocolate. I had a good time making this cake and I hope you all enjoy it.

MARIAH AND RICH'S WEDDING 04.13.09

Aloha!
Hope everyone is having a great weekend. We have been super busy this week and I am trying to catch my breathe. We have had big events everyday this week.

This wedding started off our "green"week. On Monday we had the honor to help Mariah and Rich celebrate their wedding. We made a larger 2 tier hexagon cake. We made a custom green fondant to match the accents of green used in the room. And we placed cherry blossom branches and flowers running up the cake.

I had the pleasure to meet Mariah and Rich when they arrived to Hawaii for a tasting. They picked 3 of our popular flavors. The bottom tier had Strawberry Guava and Pineapple Coconut and the top tier was are ever so popular Chocolate Guinness.

I had the chance to see both of them when we arrived at Ko'olau Ballroom. They were making sure all the details were in place and ready to go. They had a beautiful day with what I think is one of the most beautiful back drops. The Ko'olau Mountains. I had the chance to see some of the shots that Jose Roces and his team photographed. And they are beautiful. Check his blog to see more pictures from this beautiful and unique wedding. www.JoseRocesPhotography.blogspot.com
And if your looking for a photographer check out his website for more information

We want to wish Mariah and Rich a long happy life of love and happiness. And thank them for letting us share their special day with them.

I also want to thank Jose for the following photo and Jalna Arnoy for the remaining photos. She was on site to shadow Jose. She is an aspiring photographer and I think she has a good yet for detail. These pictures of our cake look awesome!

PACIFIC EDGE MAGAZINE IS 3 YEARS OLD!!

ALOHA!
I said it before that things come in groups. And this is week was the week of green, and its only Thursday. I am going to start backwards and tell you about an event we did last night. I am excited to have been able to make a cake for Pacific Edge Magazine's 3rd Anniversary and the launch of their Eco-friendly issue. One reason I was excited is because next month Sunshine's Cake Creations will be 3 as well!
When asked to make this cake I thought it would be a good idea to incorporate something from he magazine int he cake but I knew I did not want to make a traditional cake. So I decided to make the issue and make it 3D.

I took a few cakes and stacked them like magazine. I made 3 to represent the 3 years the company has been in business. I love the guys on the cake. How many people can say they were out of sugar?

We also made cookies for the 200 VIP bags they gave out. So you can see how busy we were this week. We also had 2 other events that we will post tomorrow!

HAPPY 3rd ANNIVERSARY PACIFIC EDGE!
Go get a copy of the magazine today

BLUE HIBISCUS

ALOHA,
This past weekend we had a wedding for a great couple. Nicole picked blue and white for her colors which were perfect with the blue ocean back drop. We choose blue and white hibiscus flowers to represent the bride and the groom. I loved the idea. We hand painted these sugar hibiscus flowers with a custom blue for her. This cake was very simple and beautiful.
We wish the couple many years of love!
Congratulations!
We have a lot of new pictures to post so keep checking out our site for more information.

STAR TREK'S U.S.S RELIANT

Aloha!
How great it feels to have had a day off.
This past weekend we had the pleasure to make a cake for our returning client Cely. She called to have a cake made for her husband Trevor. He loves Star Trek and she wanted us to make the U.S.S Reliant. I am not a Star Trek fan at all so we had to do some research and found some pictures. Cely also sent us some great pictures so we took all this and came out with this cake! This is our first ship and I am very proud of it.
This cake was a surprise for Trevor and his 10 friends. We delivered to Outback Steakhouse and when we walked in with this cake all the girls that worked there were amazed that it was a cake. And that it had lights in it. We did light it up in 3 different places.
Needless to say we gave out a bunch of business cards!
We had fun making this cake because we really enjoy making cakes for Cely and Trevor. They are an awesome couple and always pick designs that are outside the box.
Happy Birthday Trevor!!

JUAN AND HIS SPICY BIRTHDAY CAKE

ALOHA FRIDAY!!

We always get some requests that are different. And I love those cakes. We got a call from Lucy who wanted a small cake for her Husband Juan's birthday. She said she wanted all kinds of hot peppers all over the cake because Juan loved spicy food. (We do too) So when I asked her what flavor she wanted she told me he liked chocolate. Perfect I thought and I began to tell her about our new flavor, Chocolate Chipotle. She right away said that he would love it.

So we made the cake and covered it with chocolate butter cream and chocolate fondant. We made some different variety of hot peppers. We added some flames at the base of the cake and a birthday plaque for him. Simple but a good kick of flavor. Just like Juan likes it!

If you want to try this new flavor please contact us for a tasting! Check out our site for other new flavors we added. www.sunshinescakecreations.com

Have a great weekend!

ONE BIG CATCH...THE MULLET FISH

ALOHA!
We hope you liked our new feature. We posted our interview with Katy Castillo yesterday. I hope you got a chance to read it and check out Katy's website.

Today i want to show you a mullet fish cake we made for a returning client of ours Stephanie. We have done several cakes for her in the past but this time she was calling on behalf of her boyfriend, Shawn. She told me the story that he caught this big mullet fish and all he can talk about is how big the fish was and he caught it. She thought it would be funny to get him a cake of this fish. She sent me some pictures and we got to work. Of course the inside of this cake had nothing to do with fish but a lot of red velvet, which is one of his favorite flavors.

She also asked of specific thing, and this cake had to be as small as can be and packed well in box. She was flying to Maui for the weekend to celebrate Shawn's birthday.
We heard the cake made is safe and Shawn loved it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHAWN!
Have a good day.
