LIGHTING UP CAKES

I always like to try something new. And when I got a call from Pam about her wedding cake on 08.08.08 she stressed that she wanted her soon to be husband in on the cake. So I asked a lot of questions on how we could combine both personalities in the wedding cake. After long talks about the cake we decided that Greg loves lights of all kinds and we were going to light this cake up! I was very exctied to have the chance to do something different. I love lights myself. I keep Christmas lights up all year, and the candle lights are all over my house. It just makes for a different ambiance.

So I searched a long time for LED lights. I had only a short time to find them. I could not find any on island and it was to late to order from the web. So I actually took a strand of tiny LED lights I had and strung it between the seperated layers and covered the wire with the rose petels they left for me. The cake was awesome and the lights gave it such a different feel. I was so stoked to do this for Pam and Greg. And they loved it. He was excited to have his cake light up.

So next time your looking for cake, make sure to think outside the box. There are a lot fo different things we can do to make your cake unique to your personalities! And ask about us lighting your cake up!!

OUR SIGNATURE CAKE

Ok, so one more post for the day and I am off to make my cakes for Saturday! I wanted to share some pictures of our signature cake. For those of you who do not know me, I love butterflies. I love what they represent. They are magical and beautiful and that is how weddings are. So to combine both of my loves I made this design up. Every client that wants this design I always suggest we do it different, this way it is still unique for the couple! I hope you enjoy.

Our busy weekend (08.16.08)

OUR WEEKEND FILLED WITH CAKES

So I try to blog once a week but lately it has been so busy that I can't. I wish I could blog everyday but I just do not have the time.

This past weekend we made 9 cakes and 200 cookies in 3 days. It was busy busy. And you all thought 08.08.08 was busy.. not even. We were busy that day as well but this week was crazy.

First Saturday was my wedding anniversary. 2 years married to the best husband a girl could ask for. I was only going to book one cake for that day. It was an early delivery in Pearl City and then Nick and I were going to spend the day together.

I started to get a lot of calls for cakes on the 15th and 16th. I hate to say no. I never like to turn business away. So I took a few orders for Friday and then I started to take a few for Saturday. With one request, we deliver the cakes early. It just worked out that all of the events we did were early afternoon parties. I kept telling nick of the orders and I think he was a little bummed but when I told him they were all before noon he was stoked.

So after getting a few calls from clients I started to tell them I was booked for Saturday and they were insistant on having us make there cake I even delivered them friday evening.

So, Friday I had a full sheet for the Army National Gaurd, a graduation cake for Shannon, a wedding for Candice, and then a birthday for Brandons wife that was a surprise.

Saturday we got up and delivered a first birthday to Coen, a first birthday to Bennett, a bridal shower for Julie, a birthday for Cely and our last birthday for Lee.

Wow some people get up early to go to work and then there is me who stays up all night. I got 8 hours of sleep in 3 days. but I am not complaining, I had so much fun creating all of these cakes. They were all so different.
To top it all off I had Hawaii In Style Tv come and film me for a story that will air in the new season.
I had a great time making cakes, deliving them and then going to sleep, which was Saturday afternoon and nick and I missed our dinner reservations but we made it up later and went to the movies and dinner locally and we went to brunch the next day.

Thanks for all of you who contacted us for cakes. You will able to view the pictures soon. Our website is in construction right now!!
have a great week

Welcome to Sunshine's Cake Creations new blog site

After having all of our blogs on myspace we thought it was about time to take it to a different level. We are not sure if many people read our myspace so we wanted to try a new blogging site. This site seemed the easiest one to use. And I have researched a lot of different sites. So I hope you will enjoy reading our blogs as much as I like to write them. I will try to get as many up as I can but right now I am posting on myspace every week. I have been so slammed busy with cakes I barely have time to sleep. Which is great, I am not complaining, I love the work.

Thank you all for letting me make cakes for you and your family. I am having so much fun and learning a lot along the way. we hope to be around for at least 5 more years!! Many of you may not know but my husband is in the navy. So we will see!! Keep your fingers crossed. We love hawaii and want to stay around for a long time.

Look out for new blogs soon, in the mean time you can look through are old blogs that I will post!!
